FAQ

Where is your office?
My office is wherever you are in Colorado.
Do you accept insurance?
I do not take insurance for a myriad of reasons. Ultimately, I found that using insurance can limit my scope of practice and the quality of care I can give you.
What is the cancellation policy?
You must cancel 24 hours in advance to avoid receiving a charge for the total amount of your session. However, life happens, and I get it! I will not charge for a missed session if something out of your control happens.
How do I set up an initial appointment?
Give me a call or send me an email! I offer a free 20-minute consultation, and that’s our chance to see if we are a good fit.
With what age ranges do you work?
I primarily work with adults between the ages of 18-65.
What modalities do you use?

To be truly successful, I don’t believe there can be a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. There are some theoretical orientations that I like to use. I’m a big fan of narrative therapy, which means that it is extremely compelling to reclaim and/or rewrite the pieces of your story that no longer serve you.

When working with couples, I primarily utilize Gottman Method techniques.

Do you assign homework between sessions?
That is totally and completely your call! Therapy should be practical, helpful, and tailored to you. If having something to focus on between sessions would help you reach your goals, then it’s something we can discuss.
How long can I expect to work with you?

I wish I could give you an answer to this question. But the reality is – it depends.

Therapy can bring things up we had no intention of discussing, so you might be in therapy longer than you think. I strive to let you lead your therapy time, including periodically checking in to see how you’re feeling about progress, where you still hope to go, etc.

How do I know what to look for in a therapist?

GREAT question. Skills, experience, and specialties all play essential roles, but your relationship and rapport with your therapist matter more than just about everything.

Ideally, when shopping for a therapist, you set up consultation calls with more than one. You should feel as if you have the most autonomy in this process and spend however much time you need to find the person you think “gets you.”
